Welcome to “Quantum for everyone” !

A second quantum revolution with far reaching applications is unfolding. Of course, the quantum theory, which governs physics on an atomic scale, is not exactly new. Lasers and transistors are examples of quantum technologies from the last century. However, thanks to the recent progress in both engineering and physics, we now have the ability to manipulate quantum systems, such as electrons, atoms and photons, at the individual level. This second quantum revolution opens the doors to a new wave of disruptive technologies that fully exploit the weirdness of quantum mechanics. More precisely, quantum computers will exploit individual quantum systems to solve some domain specific problems’ substantially faster than classical computers. Quantum communication networks will offer a new paradigm to protect users’ data in a much more secured way than current asymmetric crypto means. Finally, quantum sensors will allow improved measurement capabilities in various fields. So as you can understand, we are entering a new paradigm, and this non technical course will teach you how to navigate the rise of quantum technologies. Whether you want to know what's behind all these buzzwords, or whether you want to perhaps use quantum technologies yourself either in a personal context or in a corporation or other organisation, this course will teach you how.
